REVIEW: Pigsty - The Return Bizarre Leprous Production, 2002
6.5/10
Pigsty - The Return - cover art Pigsty is yet another brutal death / grind band from the Czech Republic who have dedicated their musical abilities to creating some of the most intense and grinding stuff that humanity has ever heard. The thing that separates Pigsty from many other bands of their genre is that their guitar riffs are rather unusual and reminds me of both modern metalcore bands and technical death metal bands from the US. The cd starts off very promising and the second track "Deviant In Your Bath" must be one of the best death / grind songs ever made. Unfortunately this kind of quality is not maintained throughout the rest of the album and in the end it feels as if you have heard the same song a little too many times to be fully satisfied. You have to admire them for the title of the ninth track though, I could have never thought of that... This is technically insane and brutally chaotic grind that should please many of you who fancy the likes of Agathocles. I don't know exactly what kind of noise a pig is capable of producing when he lets it loose but I actually think the vocalist gets close at times. The cover of "Bulls On Parade" by Rage Against The Machine is actually quite interesting. Stand-out tracks: "Deviant In Your Bath" (oh, scary...), "Ganja".
