The Pinkies are back with a brand new album and it's as fantastic as the work we are used to get from this German band. Even though Alfred Koffler (guitar) has detected some chronic health problems with his hand, it didn't have an effect on the superb guitar work that is presented on "Thunderdome". The whole album shows us a very impressive selection of songs though it takes some time till you are really 'into' this album. Of course it is hard to reach the high level of "Sonic Dynamite" but nevertheless their new release is more powerful and mature than the predecessor "Endangered". Vocalist David Readman as well showed once again that he is able to improve his vocal abilities from album to album. It couldn't be better here. Regarding to the songs we are offered 12 pieces (including bonustrack: 13) which cover everything you might have expected. "Gods Come Together" is a typical PC69 song that reminds me a bit of "Seas Of Madness" which is in my opinion one of the bests songs they ever made. Songs like "As Deep As I Am" or "Another Wrong Makes" have catchy tunes and nice melodies - you can really hear that this band have worked together for a long time now and they know how to make great songs. A nice extra is the cover version of "My Sharona" but also slower songs like "That Was Yesterday" accompanied by keyboards (by Günther Werno) in the background, fit perfectly into the album as a whole. Simply add some hits like "Another One Makes Right" and "Shelter" and as an ultimate result you got the album you're looking for. The Pinkies definately still belong to the best melodic metal bands out there and "Thunderdome" is yet another proof. This album was produced by bass player Dennis Ward himself once again and he
made a first class production as usually.
