REVIEW: Plutonium - Wind Of Change Self-financed, 2004
6/10
Plutonium - Wind Of Change - cover art This is first recording by a band founded in 2003. Plutonium recorded this material themselves on a ‘trial and error’ basis as they state in the promo material. Four tracks of extreme metal, as the band loves to call their music, actually, three songs and outro. This is actually, some mixture between Black Metal á la Burzum, industrial and Doom. Mainly slow music with hypnotic drumming that doesn’t change often in a song. Only one song is a fast one. Then, guitars are very simple, only riffing with occasional depressive melodies on lead guitar. Structure of the songs is ok, no sudden changes or some bullshit. They are constructed with a taste. Vocals are ok, they sound malicious and depressive at the same time. This is logical if you know that the lyrics are about ‘world of filth, misery and hopelessness’. The sound of the demo is ‘industrialized’, let’s say like that, it has this characteristic industrial vibe. And while we are on the subject of sound, drums should be programmed to sound better, this is semi child's toy. Basically, if the band is young this could be a good start, a ground to develop from. Otherwise, if this is their final offer (which I doubt, it’s only a first demo) it would be soon forgotten.
