REVIEW: Pocket Venus - Make It Through Your Day (EP) Secrets Of Sound, 2002
3/10
Pocket Venus - Make It Through Your Day (EP) - cover art I have no idea why I am reviewing this EP but I will give it a shot anyway... The problem is that I don't think this album belongs at Tartarean Desire but since the band have gone through the trouble of sending me the disc I owe them at least something even though the review will not be too nice. Pocket Venus is a band out of Llandudno, Wales, Great Britain, who have been playing since mid-1996. This EP is their first label release which is distributed by the small independent company Secrets Of Sound Music. I am generally very open-minded as it comes to music (and everything else as well...) and I like everything from classical music and opera to Michael Jackson, techno and metal. However there are some types of music I just can't stand and this is one of them. Pocket Venus plays the kind of Beatles influenced pop/rock music with whining vocals that is so popular today. I think it is absolutely heinous and this is about everything I am going to say about this album. If you like that kind of music I guess you could find this ok but I don't want to listen to this album ever again, sorry guys... The musicianship isn't bad at all but I just can't stand this type of music.
