REVIEW: Power Symphony - Evillot Northwind Records, 1999
7.5/10
Power Symphony - Evillot - cover art The first full album release from the Italian newcomers Power Symhony is really one of the best debuts ever made. With powerful keyboard and guitar melodies influenced by classical music a nice environment is created for the great voice of Michela D´Orlando, who also writes all the lyrics, mostly about the netherworld, evil and sorrow. There are no really slow songs on this album although some songs have slower parts where Michela often takes lead with her very emotional voice. On "Inferno Suite", based on Dante's classic work "La Divina Comedia", the band has also hired one soprano and one baritone singer to sing the first passage of the song in latin, which gives it a little extra touch. Since this album all members of the band except Michela herself and the lead guitarist Marco Cecconi has left, probably for personal reasons. If the new-composed band can be kept together there is most certainly a lot more to come from these great Italians.
