The German heavy metal band Powergod
has released two albums before they decided that they wanted to honour some of
the best heavy metal bands in history with this third effort which contains
nothing but cover songs. Yet another boring cover album might be your first
thought. However they have done a great job with this album even though they
haven't written any of the material themselves. Some of the best metal songs
ever made can be found here and some of them are even better sounding than the
originals - the songs from Savage Grace, Agent Steel, Yngwie Malmsteen and
Anthrax are all superb masterpieces that beats almost every single band of
today. Most of the other songs are also great but the thing they all have in
common is that they are in the true heavy metal style. No slow hard rock
ballads or monotonous power metal can be found here. If you like heavy metal
done the old way and want to relive the golden days then this album offers you
a very inexpensive journey through time. The album may very possibly deserve a
higher rating but since it is only a cover album I don't want to rate it any
higher.
