REVIEW: Primal Dawn - Zealot Self-financed, 2006
7/10
Primal Dawn - Zealot - cover art Like a little brother of Immolation, but more clearly influenced by black metal, the Dublin based Primal Dawn offers you a mini-CD with four tracks of black/death metal to mosh to. The sounds are enjoyably dirty and harsh which gives the album a nice chaotic feel. The vocals are also good and powerful which is kind of important in music like this. The songs in turn are well composed and there is a point behind the lyrics, so the cruel fact that the playing could be slightly tighter doesn’t really bother. This is actually a self-released album so by the time this band is being offered with a deal (which is more likely to happen sooner or later), I’m sure they’re tight enough to rock the wax off your ears.
