REVIEW: Psychopunch - Kamikaze Love Reducer Silverdust Records, 2006
7.5/10
Psychopunch - Kamikaze Love Reducer - cover art Swedish punk rock band Psychopunch strikes again. The album “Kamikaze Love Reducer” is the quartet’s sixth release and the production is delivered by producer Pelle Saether (early The Hives, No Fun At All, Carnal Forge etc). Although you still can hear the punk influences from bands like Ramones, the sound has somewhat changed to more rock 'n' roll than before. For the first time, Psychopunch have some calmer songs with acoustic guitars on one of their records. One example is ‘When The World Is Dying’ that unfortunately falls flat just because of its length and the fact that it is a little to sleazy. Psychopunch are at their best when the punk is dominating the sound. The album's best track is by far “On the Stereo” with its attitude and sing-along-refrain that definitely will contribute to the atmosphere at any party. The first single from the album, “Overrated”, is another good track that will make you do the pogo through your living room. “Overrated” is available for free download on the band's homepage and if you like it, you’re going to love this album. “Kamikaze love reducer” will get you in the right party mood.
