REVIEW: Pungent Stench - Masters Of Moral, Servants Of Sin Nuclear Blast, 2001
6/10
Pungent Stench - Masters Of Moral, Servants Of Sin - cover art Austria is mostly known for their strong black metal scene with leading bands like Summoning, Hollenthon, Abigor and others who are all connected to Napalm Records, one of the top metal labels in the world right now. There are however some other bands of high quality like the death metal band Pungent Stench which is of course also linked to the black metal scene where its members have their roots. This will also show in the very antireligious lyrical content of this album that is also decorated with a little bit of twisted humour. Pungent Stench is not a new band (the band was actually formed in the late 80's) but it has been 8 years now since the release of their last album "Club Mondo Bizarre". I have never been a big fan of the band and I am still not hooked on their very chaotic brand of death metal. Sure it sounds ok now and then with some nice riffs and raw growling but mostly it is plain boring. These guys should stick to what they do best: black metal.
