REVIEW: Ra - Sinnocence Tribal Productions, 2001
7/10
Ra - Sinnocence - cover art Except from being the god of the almighty sun in the ancient Egypt mythology, Ra is also the initial letters and the side-project of Rusu Andrei (a.k.a. Vlad Dracul) of Agathodaimon. This is not really metal in it“s original meaning but more rockish. There are still heavy and tight guitars but mostly Ra produces some kind of melancholic dark rock with a romantic touch of black roses and velvet darkness. This is the second album from the band but since I haven“t heard the debut I can not compare the two. The lyrical concept of this release is erotic thoughts and behaviour, a most interesting subject that deserves to be honored with the warm emotional music that Ra delivers. Since this is more of a rock album the vocals are naturally clean but still with a dark aftertaste. Sinnocence contains forty minutes of seductive music that will make you wish that your lover(s) was/were lying right beside you in a bed surrounded with a hundred black candles. The music itself is not totally exciting but there is something special about the whole atmosphere of this album that makes me like it. This is progressive music for the open-minded and I encourage you all to at least give it a try.
