Rage Against The Machine is
one of the few bands who have managed to shake the foundations of the American
society at least a little which is something I highly appreciate. Sweden may
not be a perfect democratic nation but countries like the US and Great Britain
are far from the perfect role models they want to be. Clinging on to the past
does not really make the perfect ground to build a society upon. Enough said
about that. This is not the kind of music that I normally review here at
Tartarean Desire but it is my obligation to tell you about other great bands
as well that should be appreciated for what they have done. The self-titled
debut album from Los Angeles' own Rage Against The Machine is one of the best
albums of the 90's and have had a huge impact on the modern heavy music
scene. Street poetry and powerful spitting vocals from Zack De La Rocha, heavy
thundering riffs, flawless drumming and little twists and turns make this a
wonderful listening experience. I am generally against all bands who have no
lyrical content but the good ol' "f*ck it all". Rage Against The Machine is
different in this aspect. Their lyrics are intelligent and written to make
people think and that is one of the things that make them so special. Every
single track is close to perfect and this is no doubt one of the best albums
ever made, all genres included. While their subsequent releases are more
experimental musically speaking this one is straight-forward and consists of
pure energy. If you don't already own this album buy it
now!
