REVIEW: Rain - Natural Order Transit Records, 2000
7.5/10
Rain - Natural Order - cover art Rain is a Swiss band who seems to be very fascinated by the nature and weather conditions since they have decided to call their specific kind of metal 'ice metal'. With one of the tracks being called 'Fire' it doesn't quite make sense, does it...? Well, they have released one album before called 'Sephiroths' which I unfortunately have not had the chance to listen to but this time they have at least delivered a mature and well-planned album. This is a band who has managed to make black metal type vocals sound clean and that is a good thing because the 'real' black metal screeches would not suit their music very well. The first track starts off with a very nice riff which is also one of the highlights of the whole album. The second track is a more experimental track that could have been left out since it sounds like a bad version of Samael. The rest of the album also show strong similarities to Samael material with majestic keyboards, lots of samples and raspy vocals. Altogether this is a good album from a talented young band showing their appreciation for the nature and life that still inhabit this planet. Recommended for Samael fans and those not allergic to experimental metal of different kinds.
