REVIEW: Raventhrone - Endless Conflict Theorem Avantgarde Music, 2002
8/10
Raventhrone - Endless Conflict Theorem - cover art Raventhrone is as you may know the solo project of Ray Wells who used to live in Austria but now seems to have moved to Canada for some reason. Five long years have passed since the release of his debut album "Malice In Wonderland" which received good reviews from the metal press all over the world. The strong epic feeling is still there and Ray have written eleven tracks in classic Raventhrone style with clean heroic vocals, aggressive growling, beautiful melodies and a wonderful atmosphere. Today there are plenty of good metal bands around but as usual the world is in clear lack of creative individuals who dare to defy trends and walk their own paths. Ray Wells is luckily one of them and he has once again created a unique work of audial art. Original music created for the open-minded listener is what the Raventhrone project is all about and when listening my way through this album a couple of albums I realize that this is a high quality release that will eventually grow on you. The only thing I don't like is that the music sometimes sounds like a bad christmas carol :-) Recommended to fans of experimental epic metal. I really hope that we don't have to wait another five years for the next Raventhrone release... Stand-out tracks: "The Gargoyle", "The Eaters Of The Dead", "Dragon Of The Night Sky".
