Red Harvest has been one of the most productive extreme metal bands from Norway and that is perhaps part of the explanation for their mainstream success as they have been nominated for several awards, including a Norwegian Grammy. Many black and death metal bands from Norway, and other countries as well, have started incorporating industrial influences in their music but Red Harvest is definitely the ones who have gone the furthest and probably also have been a major influence on their fellow countrymen. "Internal Punishment Programs" has a lot in common with their previous album "Sick Transit Gloria Mundi" but in many ways it is more coherent which unfortunately also makes it less varied and diversity is what I am missing most here. The new material would surely be suited for a live performance as it is very tight, intense and energetic but it seems a little bit to me as if Red Harvest are about to empty their coffin of ideas and could use a refill soon in order not to repeat the past too much. "Internal Punishment Programs" is by no means bad but it lacks somewhat of the cold harsh edge and freshness that made their previous album so special. Still, Red Harvest beat most of the competition and have not lost their purity and aggression yet.
