Revenge is a band that could need a real introduction as they are not exactly that well-known yet, except for maybe in the North American underground scene. For those of you who were fans of the Canadian band Conqueror a few years back you are already familiar with the band leader J. Read. After having recorded and released a mini album on Dark Horizon in 2001 with the help of session musicians, Read has now been joined by former Angel Corpse member Pete Helmkamp. Being some of the most skilled extreme metal musicians on the American continent it didn't take too long before they attracted the attention of French metal merchants Osmose Productions and signed a deal. The album title of their debut full-length reflects well on the extreme minds behind the noise. Noise is actually the correct word to use because this is half an hour of furious grindcore which has been underproduced on purpose. It is noisy, dirty and straight in your face without holding back. Gurgling vocals and highly controversial lyrical themes further add to the extremity of this release. If you wish you could refer to Revenge as the Darkthrone of death metal. On a few occasions you can trace some industrial noise influences which Helmkamp may have brought with him from his own Terror Organ project. Not bad but it lacks any sense of originality.
