REVIEW: Rhapsody - Rain Of A Thousand Flames Limb Music Products, 2001
9/10
Rhapsody - Rain Of A Thousand Flames - cover art The inventors of Hollywood metal have been very productive lately since this is only a bridge between the last album "Dawn Of Victory" and the new one which will be released in February next year if nothing goes wrong. Fans of the band will not be surprised when I say that this is another masterpiece of symphonic epic power metal done the way no-one else can. When Luca Turilli is involved you can be sure that the final result is nothing else than exceptional, something he has proven time and time again. The music of this album is as pompous, ambitious and bombastic as ever before but I miss the kind of extra spark that all the other albums have in the shape of the last track of the album. The last track is great this time as well but it doesn't have the same delicated edge as usual. Perhaps that is saved for the forthcoming "real" album. This album is even more movie music sounding than the previous releases which makes the music extremely majestic and almost manages to lift your roof an inch or two. If you are not hyper-allergic to anything with the slightest resemblance to power metal you should not miss this release. Rhapsody is one of a kind and I can't wait to hear the new album in February.
