Rimthurs is a one-man black metal project from the north of Sweden that was created around 2001-2002 by Ymer who is also involved with a brutal death metal act called Necrocide. There are a few occasional touches of death metal in the music that Ymer composes for Rimthurs as well but furthermost this project is about cold, harsh black metal with hateful lyrics dealing with destructive subjects such as war, misanthropy and death. Influences that come to mind are Allegiance and a few other Swedish black metal bands from the 90s but also the blackened thrash of early Bathory. Especially the songs "Krigvind" and "Vitekrist" have a strong viking metal vibe and all lyrics are written in Swedish to create the right atmosphere for the music. All instruments and vocals are handled by Ymer himself except for bass for which he has enlisted the services of his bandmate Mordh from Necrocide. Raw and icy, this violent piece of art should please fans of old-school black metal. With a worthy studio budget, Rimthurs could be a very interesting name in the genre.
