REVIEW: Rising Moon - Demo 2003 Self-financed, 2003
6.5/10
Rising Moon - Demo 2003 - cover art This demo is the latest of the band’s output though they already had three label-released albums and one MCD, which brings us to the question of why their contract was never renewed. After having casually listened to this 4-track demo two or three times, I can only recall one really good part that stood out (the slow part on “They Are as One”) and several alright ones, that I don’t suspect will be bouncing around my head all day long, if at all. The music is tight and the production is good, but there is plenty of this kind of melodic death metal stuff, specifically in places like Gothenburg, Sweden. As a friend of mine once put it about a similar band, “they don’t need to exist”. Harsh, but true. Though I will never claim to know about this sub-genre, perhaps it is better to leave it up to the Swedes.
