REVIEW: Rising Moon - European Aliens Metal Fortress Entertainment, 2001
7/10
Rising Moon - European Aliens - cover art Rising Moon is a new Italian band that was formed in 1997 by two guys named Angelo and Carmine. At first they were known as Body Grinder but eventually they signed a record deal with Elegy Records and also changed their name. In January 2001 they signed a new deal with the small Swedish metal label Metal Fortress Entertainment and here is the first result on the new label. I haven't heard the previous releases from this band but their new MCD is a very nice audial assault that will not leave you unmarked with its brutal display of intensity. Even if this album is a rather brutal mix of black and death metal the thing that will impress you the most is that it is still extremely melodic. These guys are some very well trained musicians capable of producing listenable metal. The production is perhaps not the best possible but it is far from being bad and it is of high enough quality not to bring the musical experience down. Rising Moon is one of the most promising new Italian metal acts and they have every possibility to reach the top of the world if they continue to focus on their music and develop further.
