Rose Tattoo is
a rock band that was there when it all happened in the late 70's. Together
with bands like AC/DC and Angels they showed the world that Australians knew
how to play hard rock. After tours with major acts like Aerosmith and ZZ Top
they took a break between 1983 and 1993 but now they are back again for real
with their first studio album since they released "Southern Stars" in 1984.
I am afraid that I'm the wrong person to write the review of this album since
raw, dirty rock'n'roll is something I despise more than most together with
punk music and Swedish dance music. Still I will try to put my feelings aside
and base my judgment on the musical performance of these guys. First of all I
would like to comment on the lyrics. They have managed to scrape together some
rock'n'roll song titles like "The Devil Does It Well", "Satan's Eyes"
and "Someone To Fuck" but that doesn't impress me very much since that has
been done a thousand times already. If I am to be impressed with the lyrics
you will have to write something original, something that makes you think or
paint a beautiful landscape in words. The music of Rose Tattoo is ok and I do
understand why they have caught the attention of so many hard rock fans all
over the world. If you would like to listen to a mix of AC/DC and
Motörhead then you might want to check out these Australians because they
are one of the most well known rock bands left from the early
days.
