REVIEW: Rotten Sound - Murderworks Deathvomit Records, 2002
7/10
Rotten Sound - Murderworks - cover art 12 songs performed in 28 ½ minutes, what else can this be but utterly intense grindcore. That is probably the first thing you come to think and this time you would not be wrong because this is what these Finnish guys have dedicated their musical talents to. Rotten Sound was formed in 1993 and all the members have plenty of experience in extreme music. When they started out close to ten years ago they wanted to play intense grindcore in the Extreme Noise Terror and old Napalm Death vein and this is what they do today as well. With technically precise riffing, mach speed songs and a vocalist from hell their new album will certainly make all fans of the aforementioned grindcore legends happy. The album was also masterfully produced by Nasum's very own Mieszko Talarzcyk and mixed by Jim Durkin (ex-Dark Angel, Dreams Of Damnation). After releasing two full-length albums on Repulse Records ("Under Pressure" and "Drain") this is their debut on their new label Deathvomit (sublabel of Necropolis) who has had some problems with the cover art. The manufacturers in Germany, the most censored country in Europe, refused to print the covers since they were considered to glorify violence which is actually a crime in Germany and therefore us Europeans will only see a censored version in the stores. As an extra bonus the album also contains three video tracks for those of you with computers.
