Sometimes intros are very effective in order
to create and set an atmosphere for the album but the result is far too seldom
successful. Often they only annoy the hell out of me and this is the case with
the opening sounds of the debut album from Indiana based band Rupture Christ.
Luckily the rest of the album is far more exciting with few moments made for
resting. These guys perform pretty conventional brutal death metal in the
American vein but with more of a grindcore sound. Fans of bands like Dying
Fetus, Broken Hope and Severe Torture should take some interest in this band.
It is tight, well-played and intense with deep growling vocals by frontman
Braxton Keyser who is doing his job pretty well. Some may be disgusted or
offended by the sadistical lyrics and porn samples / references but I'll
leave that up to you to decide. Even though I personally find their lyrics to
be tasteless and stereotypical I fully support their right to express
themselves in this way. Rupture Christ doesn't have anything breathtaking or
new to offer the world but if you enjoy grindcore and / or brutal death metal
you could at least lend their music an ear or two. Worth noticing is that they
have included a cover of Lividity's "Oozing Vaginal Discharge". Grind
f***ing gore!
