REVIEW: Sadistic Eyes - 1st Promotion (demo) Self-financed, 2001
6.5/10
Sadistic Eyes - 1st Promotion (demo) - cover art Sadistic Eyes is a Japanese band that was formed in 2000 by Toru Kashii as he had left his previous band Raging Fury because of musical differences. He quickly gathered a new line-up, including a couple of former Narcotic Creed members, and in 2001 they recorded this demo / promo cd which showcases four of the band's own songs. "Raging Fury" would be a good way to describe the music that is presented on this disc because Sadistic Eyes is a band full of energy and rage. There is no doubt that these Japanese men have been influenced by the old thrash metal masters such as Death Angel, old Destruction and Kreator. The vocals are however more brutal and death metal sounding than the aforementioned ones. I really enjoy the vocals since they are strong and help to make their music more powerful and not solely based on traditional thrash / speed metal. Sometimes they find themselves trapped in the same riffing for a little too long but most of the time this disc is fully enjoyable. The sound quality is also a lot better than what you could have the right to demand from a self-financed demo recording. I am glad to see that there is quality metal produced in Japan as well and not only consumed. If you liked Death Angel's album "The Ultra-Violence" then you will probably like this brand new Japanese act as well.
