REVIEW: Sadus - Out For Blood Mascot Records, 2006
7.5/10
Sadus - Out For Blood - cover art After close to ten years of silence, Bay Area thrash pioneers Sadus breaks out once again for the release of "Out For Blood". The original line-up that was active between 1984 and 1997 has returned to the fold with the exception of guitarist Rob Moore. Being one more in a long row of high caliber reunions one always asks the question, will they be able to deliver once again? While Jon Allen and Steve DiGiorgio has kept themselves busy during these years that have passed since the release of "Elements Of Anger" in 1997, frontman Darren Travis has remained quiet until now. Although not exceptional by today's standards, "Out For Blood" will certainly be a welcome addition to the record collection of anyone who has ever considered himself a Sadus fan. The raw, personal vocals of Darren Travis remain strong and vibrant, DiGiorgios extraordinary skills as a bass player are audible enough and Jon Allen fulfils his duties with perfect precision to complete the rhythm section. For close to an hour time stands still and we are once again back in the prime era of Bay Area thrash. It's tight, technical and aggressive. Although this is headbanger nostalgia for the most part, Sadus has returned and they do pass the test. Note the guest appearance from Testament's Chuck Billy on the final track "Crazy".
