REVIEW: Samael - Exodus Century Media, 1998
9/10
Samael - Exodus - cover art A very nice MCD release from the Swiss brother's band Samael. Heavy yet very melodic guitar melodies, great vocals, sometimes growled and sometimes spoken in a very nice deep voice and some very well-arranged keyboards, giving the music a little bit of a techno-sound similar to that of the German band Rammstein. The lyrics could perhaps be described as "astral", mixing influences from christianity, satanism and adding an extra outer space touch to it. Although I'm not the biggest of Samael fans in general I find this release to be very good and it has got some really powerful songs on it like "Exodus" and "Ceremony of Opposites" and it ends with a nice slow instrumental symphony. Maybe I should give it a lower grade since it's a short MCD but I think you should focus on the music quality more than the quantity and this one only cost me about 60% of a full CD so...
