REVIEW: Sanatorium - Internal Womb Cannibalism Forensick Music, 2001
7/10
Sanatorium - Internal Womb Cannibalism - cover art Sanatorium is one of the most brutal death metal bands from what used to be Czechoslowakia (tell me if I spelled that one wrong...) but nowadays they reside in what came to be Slovakia. What separates them from many other bands who claim to be the most brutal or the sickest band on earth they have the skills needed to make their music worth listening to. There are lots of exciting guitar riffs on this album and not only blasting drums and noise as some bands keep producing. A lot of that might have to do with the production and although Sanatorium hasn't managed to find the most perfect production available it still sounds very good and professional. The music is garnered with two voices - one more conventional death metal and one ultra-ultra-ultra-guttural that sometimes sounds like it was done under water through a straw. For the record and those interested the band has recorded three demos and one album ("Arrival Of The Forgotten Ones" on Erebos Productions in 1999) previous to this release. Beware that this is only for the ones with a special liking of brutal and gory death metal. Some might believe these guys to be murderous maniacs by reading the song titles but I can assure you that this is most certainly not the case :) The CD is distributed in Sweden by is distributed in Sweden over BORDER MUSIC/X-treme Records.
