Saxon is one of those classic heavy metal bands who have been around since forever. In 1979 they released their self-titled debut album but time takes its toll on a band and today only charismatic frontman Peter "Biff" Byford and guitarist Paul Quinn remains from the original lineup. Smashing heavy metal hits such as "Witchfinder General" and "Lionheart" shows that Biff even today has one of the most impressive vocal ranges in metal, easily competing with greats such as Halford and Dickinson. His singing style sometimes resembles that of Halford's quite a lot but in my opinion he is more diverse. The anthemic "Lionheart" will always engage the audience when performed live with its passionate vibe and sing-along friendly chorus. A massive and organic production courtesy of Charlie Bauerfeind further helps to place the new album as another fine releases in the lengthy musical career of Saxon. Strongly rooted in the classic British heavy metal scene but not afraid of moving forward, Biff & Co. show all newcomers that they're all about quality.
