Scent Of Flesh is a young Finnish band that formed in the year 2000 but they have already released two demos and one full-length album prior to "Valor In Hatred". Apparently they have taken the band and their music seriously because these eight tracks show not only a very mature band but also instrumental skills which do not come without a lot of hard work and practice. Their debut album was released by Greece's Black Lotus Records but they have now signed a new deal with their native label Firebox Records who have been very successful at digging up some of the most talented underground bands lately. An informative and meaningful review of Scent Of Flesh can not be written without mentioning Deicide at least once because their music is very similar to the style that Glen Benton and his hellish brotherhood have created for themselves. The song structures and the guitar sound are both very similar and Scent Of Flesh pull it off well enough to impress even the mighty ones I believe. In other words, Deicide fans should definitely check out these guys, especially if you don't mind a few thrash riffs placed in the right locations. There is one thing that makes Scent Of Flesh stick out though as their vocals are more guttural than Glen Benton's, also including some vocals á la grindcore. Well written songs, capable musicians and a powerful production makes this a solid death metal release. Hate, kill, destroy [not to be taken literally for those who do not understand or else look out for the police knocking on your door].
