REVIEW: Scornage - Pure Motorized Instinct Remedy Records, 2006
6.5/10
Scornage - Pure Motorized Instinct - cover art Despite the horrible choice for an album cover (a canine head on a human body in front of a flaming inferno), Germany's thrash metal maniacs Scornage managed to entertain me for a while with their sophomore effort "Pure Motorized Instinct". I have not heard their 2004 debut which was released by the Mausoleum subsidiary MDD Records but I assume that they have followed the path of German thrash heroes such as Kreator, Sodom and Destruction since picking it up back in 1998. I think Sodom fans in particular should enjoy a couple of songs on this album that are sung in the German language. The Teutonic threesome may have served as the main source of inspiration for the band but there are also leanings towards the less raw but yet incredibly intense musical creations of early Slayer. Down to earth lyrics, a tight and well organized performance alongside fine thrash vocals from front man Guido Grawe make sure that most thrash metal fans should find themselves headbanging to this album from the very first second. There is no time to rest here. Unfortunately it becomes slightly dull and monotonous after a while.
