REVIEW: Secht - Secht Sublife Productions, 2006
7/10
Secht - Secht - cover art Secht is a new true Norwegian black metal act created by two veterans from the scene - Dirge Rep (Orcustus, Gorgoroth) and Vrangsinn (Carpathian Forest, Hatepulse). You pretty much know what to expect from these guys I assume. It's dirty, it's satanic, it's dark and grim as it should be. To make everything complete the debut album from these evildoers was recorded in "a cabin deep in the forest". It opens up with an eerie intro where acoustic guitars are accompanied by creepy voices and dripping water, also known as rain. Secht wants to make it clear to the world that they are not for everyone, it is a statement from the deepest pits of hell, and they refuse to do any interviews with the media representatives such as myself. If there were university courses in anti-human behaviour and general misanthropic philosophy then I am quite sure that black metal fans would be over-represented. Now that there isn't people have to rely on bands such as Secht to provide them with the torment they need. While not exactly striking me as dramatically original, an opinion the promo sheet of course delivers, Dirge Rep and Vrangsinn have let the deepest corners of their minds and souls join forces to create a decent debut album. Raw, primitive, suggestive, experimental and personal black metal with a few interesting ideas. Guest vocal performances range from Nocturno Culto and Gaahl to Apollyon and Nattefrost. Not for the faint-hearted.
