REVIEW: Second Lass - Try To Paint A Fitful Love... Watch Me Fall Records, 2002
6/10
Second Lass - Try To Paint A Fitful Love... - cover art I believe that this is the first release on the newly founded Italian label Watch Me Fall Records who are entering the business with a solid debut. Second Lass, the band in question, are also from Italy and is a rather young band that was formed in 1998. They are obviously jumping onboard the new gothic rock wave with these twelve compositions. I have a bit of a problem with many of these bands since their music easily gets rather boring and sounds too much like modern depressive pop music. Second Lass have not managed to completely avoid this but they are still able to deliver a nice album altogether with a close to perfect production and high quality vocals. There is a female member in the band but she only plays the keyboards while one of the male members handles the vocals with success. Judging by the album title the music should be rather emotional in nature and it certainly is, especially when it comes to the vocals. This is an enjoyable first effort from the band but nothing more. Only recommended for fans of modern gothic rock who can't get enough of the genre. Stand-out tracks: "Love At Mirror".
