What a weird name this act is wearing to compose their music. Uh, to be more precise, “his” music, since this project consists only of one person, Andrea Penso. “Cold House Of Love” was supposed to be “post rock” according to some definitions I spotted here and there on the net, but, I couldn´t snatch a trace of what I call “rock” while hearing this album. Even after pulling out tons of wax off my ears with a bulldozer, really! Minimalistic instrumentation, fuzzy harmonies and an almost complete absence of melody; that´s not what one could define as “rock”, whatever the hell “post-rock” means. The only link I can assume would be the similarities portrayed between some passages here and the most ambiental lansdcapes used by bands like Sigur Rós.
The high amount of releases put out by Selaxon Lutberg could suggest we´re before another ambient bedroom project more devoted to increase their discography rather than producing worthwhile music. This is mostly background sounds with loose guitar and piano notes dripping in desolation. Forget about listenable melodies or anything similar, this is ambient the hard way... For the notes here are used to weave landscapes (well, I´d say “landscape” since everytime the feeling is the same, in my opinion) instead of melodic lines the typical way. Having said this, you can figure out the CD is quite relaxing, if not simply boring; that kind of thing you like to put on the stereo while doing whatever, just for the sake of avoiding the silence. Lovers of pure ambient maybe will feel delight in this. If you think music is melody, delete these lines off your mind right now.
