REVIEW: Sentenced - The Cold White Light Century Media, 2002
8/10
Sentenced - The Cold White Light - cover art Sentenced is not a newcomer anymore, and "The Cold White Light" is their 7th piece of Finnish metal. Heavy metal ofcourse, as the band continues their groovy and catchy melodies, performed under a strong and tight production, like the band has done on their previous albums "Crimson" and "Frozen". The band has a outstanding capability to write catchy music, and "The Cold White Light" is maybe Sentenced's strongest album seeing it from a objective angle. "Frozen" is also good, as well as their old ones, that surely was more brutal than this, but the band has never been this tight and never been able to write so many good tunes on one album before. That is their strength this time, making "The Cold White Light" a album that should interest the heap out there... One can speculate in the lyrics sometimes, but who else than the Finns can write a lyric like "Excuse Me While I Kill Myself" (got to hear it to get it!). Now I understand why the Finns have the greatest suiciderate in the world... Well, the final thing to mention is that the old Iron Maiden artworker Derek Riggs did their cover this time, that neither a drawback. Sentenced is back!
