REVIEW: Seth - Divine-X Osmose Productions, 2002
7.5/10
Seth - Divine-X - cover art The French Seth has come a long way since they started out and they have now become one of the most respected underground black metal bands. Their new album "Divine-X" is their most powerful and modern sounding release so far and it adds some new elements such as electronic experimentation and more atmospheric sounds to their music. The problem with many black metal bands is that they find it hard to make their music varied but this is something that Seth have managed to do this time. I wouldn't say that this is the masterpiece of the year but it is most certainly a high quality extreme metal release that should please most fans of the Osmose label. Seth is one of the most riff-happy black metal bands I've heard in a while and the massive production together with some pretty scary vocals makes this an album that you can sit down and listen to many times without getting bored. This is what black metal should sound like and Seth is one of the most promising extreme French bands right now. Seth is slowly moving away from a pure black metal sound to become a dynamic musical entity of their own in a blackened soundscape.
