REVIEW: Sethery - Kholera Woodcut Records, 2004
8.5/10
Sethery - Kholera - cover art It’s always interesting to run into a band you never heard of before and they deliver some really good music. I can’t tell if this is the first album of Sethery (well, I can’t know everything!), but I wouldn’t be surprised if it isn’t. Mature sound, skilled playing and song building are arguments against such an idea. Kholera is an album composed from 8 tracks, most precisely described as traditional BM like Cradle of Filth (early phase) or current Dimmu Borgir. It possesses both intensity (lots of it) and obvious melody. Guitar work here is excellent, in rank of best acts in genre; also ideas showed are of high quality. Very interesting riffs, good enjoyable melodies on guitar that change places well with keyboards are the most noticeable things here. Even fast parts are equipped with easily noticeable melodies, which is not so common nowadays. Vocals are also done in standard way and go well along the rest of material. No bigger complaints here actually. For all lovers of standard BM this should be a good freshman in your collection.
