REVIEW: Seventribe - demo #3 Self-financed, 2002
8/10
Seventribe - demo #3 - cover art ...And another extreme Grind/Metalcore band rising from the underground... Seventribe takes on a very aggressive attitude while trying to give a new shape to modern metal. This four song demo gives a very good insight on what this band is capable of accomplishing music-wise. Very clean, extremely raw but powerful sound is what best describes Seventribe's music. Not a perfect mix (but still very good), and very good production to back it up. There is absolutely nothing to complain about on any level, the guys being capable of keeping you tied to the speakers from beginning right until the end. A small Coal Chamber influence is to be felt, but most of the ideas are quite unique, and the orchestration mixes aggression with melody in quite an original way. There are absolutely no flaws in the music: it's many fingers up for this band! I'm pleased to have had the chance to review such a group, because they manage to somehow do something with music that many try to, but very few actually manage to accomplish. Vocals are brilliant (screaming especially) and the percussion part is what's probably best about the entire thing. All guitars very well worked so I can say that I couldn't be more happy about the instrumentation. Breaks exactly in the right place, aggression fades into calm in the exact perfect time - it couldn't possibly be better orchestrated (nor produced). There is one thing though I really hate about the material I got from the band: the packaging. This kind of music would deserve a good artwork for a cover. I initially didn't want to start reviewing on this one while I've had other options precisely because of the turn-off package. Conclusion: very nice work on this one, I'm truly impressed, but the fact that you don't pay enough attention to every detail that goes with making music can have a negative effect in the long run, and it gives the impression that you don't really care. If you don't, why should anybody else?
