"Let's Get This Mother Outta Here" is not a real album but a compilation CD, and it was actually released two years ago, in 2002, however we think it would be definitely worth presenting this record and its creators to you. Ship of Fools is a band that probably not many of you have heard of. That's normal, having in mind this British quintet ceased to exist quite a long time ago. Back then, during the first half of the 90's, the group's line-up consisted of Damien Clarke (keyboards), Mick Reed (drums), Sputnik (bass), Andy Banks (guitar), and a certain second keyboard player called Les Smith. Yes, it's the same guy who got famous as being a part of Cradle of Filth, and plays nowadays with Anathema. Anyway, let's concentrate on Ship of Fools again. After releasing two full-length albums - "Close Your Eyes, Forget the World" (1993) and "Out There Somewhere" (1994) - the band broke up and the musicians went their own ways... But then, almost a decade later, Peaceville Records decided to remind us of their achievements, and thank god they did it. "Let's Get This Mother Outta Here" offers nine of the five-piece's trademark works - pure instrumental psychedelic rock a-la Bogus Blimp and When (I hope you've listened to these Norwegian avantgardists), incorporating elements of late 60's / early 70's Pink Floyd, plus a bit of Yes' structures... Yes, it's pretty complex, however beautiful.... relaxing... thoughtful...
