REVIEW: Siebenbürgen - Delictum Napalm Records, 2000
9/10
Siebenbürgen - Delictum - cover art The "Delictum" album by the Swedish vampiric metal band Siebenbürgen is one of the best releases from the metal scene in Sweden during the last couple of years. It contains ten dark stories on darkness, sorrow and fear accompanied by fast, melodic metal with hammering drums. The music sounds a little like a mix between black metal and melodic metal like Mercyful Fate or Iron Maiden. The vocals are inspired by the new Norwegian bands like Tristania and Theatre of Tragedy - one growling male voice and one female. Both male and female vocals are rather good although they don't quite reach up to the standards of their Norwegian fellow bands. Siebenbürgen has however found their own style, adding black metal elements (keyboard orchestral arrangements and pounding drums) as well as lyrics inspired by vampires and darkness to the Tristania sound. If you like (or don't like...) bands like The Sins of Thy Beloved and Tristania and haven't heard Siebenbürgen this is a band that is definitely worth checking out! The album was recorded and mixed at Six String Studio by Micke Bergström, Markus von Boisman and the band. Keyboards on it was done by Mathias Norberg and artwork/design by Tor Søreide Design. If you find the lyrics on track No 6 to be a little weird it's because they are in Swedish...
