REVIEW: Silver Seraph - Silver Seraph Regain Records, 2002
7.5/10
Silver Seraph - Silver Seraph - cover art Silver Seraph is a brand new Swedish band that was put together during the spring of 2000 with the intention to re-create the spirit of Rainbow and Deep Purple. Among the band members we can find such names as Peter Wildoer (Darkane, Majestic), Pete Sandberg (Alien, Jade, Midnight Sun) and Richard Andersson (Majestic). With musicians like those in the band the resulting tunes are of course of high quality. The band have succeeded in their intention of making traditional hard rock á la Deep Purple but they have put their own modern touch to the old sound by adding powerful keyboards, heavier riffs and a certain amount of neo-classical influences. The result is a sound that is much more bombastic and powerful but unfortunately they are not as good song writers as Deep Purple was. This is a more than decent debut release from the band though and tracks like "7th Day Of Babylon", "Nosferatu" and "In The Dark" will probably not bring disappointment to any fan of modern heavy metal nor fans of old classic hard rock. This band will probably hit it big in Japan and is a fine addition to the Swedish heavy metal scene. They haven't really created something ground-breaking but that was never the point in the first place. The point is that they are good at what they do.
