REVIEW: Sinergy - Beware The Heavens Nuclear Blast, 1999
9/10
Sinergy - Beware The Heavens - cover art "Venomous Vixen" Kimberly Goss has created her own band Sinergy after having toured earlier with such great bands like Dimmu Borgir and Therion and what a band she has come up with! Here we have some of the best musicians in the metal world - Jesper Strömblad from In Flames, Sharlee DŽAngelo from Mercyful Fate and Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom. No wonder the music is a great mix of melodic, heavy and death metal with some of the best female vocals around. There are also strong power metal influences in the band, especially with Kimberly's vocals but that is not bad at all even though it is not my favorite genre. Considering this is the first album from Kimberly and the band it is an extraordinary well performed debut but what else could you expect from a line-up like that and a Nuclear Blast production? The only thing bad about the album is that it is a little bit short. Other than that this is one of the best female fronted bands to appear on the metal scene for a while and really worth a look! The album was produced, engineered and mixed by Fredrik Nordström, recorded at Studio Fredman October-November 1998. It was finally mastered by Göran Finnberg at The Mastering Room. Fredrik Nordström also appears on the album doing guest vocals and keyboards.
