REVIEW: Sinergy - Suicide By My Side Nuclear Blast, 2002
9/10
Sinergy - Suicide By My Side - cover art Kimberly Goss and her band mates of Sinergy are back again to show us what heavy metal was meant to be like. Their third effort is probably the best of their releases so far even though their debut was also very strong. I was very glad to see that there were no slow songs on this album except for the melancholic piano outro entitled "Remembrance". With this song title, alongside tracks like "Me, Myself, My Enemy", "Written In Stone" and of course the title track "Suicide By My Side" you might already have guessed that the lyrics of the album deal mostly with the subjects of self-contempt and suicide which basically means that there is no happy metal to be found here. Nonetheless Sinergy prove once again that they are one of the leading metal bands in the world and with a guitar genious like Alexi Laiho (Children Of Bodom, ex-Impaled Nazarene) in the band there is nothing else to expect. Kimberly Goss is also one of the best female metal vocalists in the world and one of the few with a real strong voice made for metal. She has been seen playing keyboards with bands like Ancient, Dimmu Borgir and Therion before but we should all be glad that she decided to start her own band. Great riffs, powerful vocals, this album is almost perfect.
