Single Bullet Theory has become one of the most well-known live acts on the American extreme music scene, having toured heavily together with big names like Entombed, King Diamond and Soilwork. With hundreds of shows under their belt they have gathered experience and grown together as a band which shows on this second album of their's. The song writing feels more mature and relaxed and they are tighter than ever before. Despite the fact that there has been a growing interest in metalcore lately there are still not that many bands that impress a whole lot. Philadalphia's Single Bullet Theory is definitely one of them though. In agreement with the formula of modern standards they mix groovy thrash metal riffs with hardcore, although with slightly more guitar solos than you're accustomed to in this genre. Vocals range from death metal growls to clean melodic singing, the latter with varied result. Unlike many metalcore bands, Single Bullet Theory avoid the ghost of boredom most of the time despite having recorded almost an hour of material for this album. The production plays an important role for an album like this one where aggression is a key factor. Unfortunately "Behind Eyes Of Hatred" doesn't have the studio work necessary behind it to push it to where it belongs. It could have and should have been more powerful. Nonetheless, a solid metalcore album that will not disappoint those who enjoyed the band's debut.
