REVIEW: Sins Of Omission - Flesh On Your Bones Black Sun Records, 2001
8/10
Sins Of Omission - Flesh On Your Bones - cover art I bet many of you don't find it very hard to name ten Swedish melodic death metal bands off the top of your head. Have you ever wondered why there are so many? If so I would advice you not to wonder so much and instead sit back and enjoy all the beautiful music that comes out of this country. The Stockholm based Sins Of Omission is one of these bands and this is the follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut album "The Creation" from 1999. This time they have replaced their previous vocalist Toni Kocmut (now in the power metal band Wyvern) with the former A Canorous Quintet vocalist Mårten Hansen who is doing a very fine job screaming his lungs out into the microphone. Sins Of Omission doesn't quite have what it takes, at least not yet, to compete with bands like At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity or In Flames but they are not far behind these Nordic metal giants. These guys are no pioneers but they are definitely very skilled musicians which results in an album that most fans of melodic death metal should be able to bang their heads to. To finish off the album there is also a cover of the Slayer classic "Angel Of Death". This is what Swedes do best.
