REVIEW: Six Feet Under - True Carnage Metal Blade Records, 2001
7/10
Six Feet Under - True Carnage - cover art Six Feet Under was first formed in 1995 as a side project of the former lead vocalist of Cannibal Corpse, Chris Barnes, together with Obituary and Death members. When Chris decided to leave his old band Six Feet Under became a full-priority band. Compared to Cannibal Corpse they are darker, groovier and a lot more dynamic which I personally think is a good thing. Unfortunately I can not tell you that much about their new album since I have only been given a three-track (four if you include the video clip...) advance promo featuring "Impulse To Disembowel", "The Day The Dead Walked" and "One Bullet Left" with a most interesting guest appearance from none other than Ice-T of Bodycount. If this is the only promo CD for the new album I honestly think every reviewer should boycott them because you can not have an overall opinion from just listening to 3 out of 11 tracks. These three are pure death metal on a high level but still I don't see why I couldn't have been given the chance to listen to the other eight? I know this is a way of protecting yourself against illegal copying but this is the wrong way of doing it.
