Of course, while the lyrics are not performed in English, if you can obtain a translation, you'll find that it is an excellent retelling of the battle. The band has also thrown in various elements, such as swords clashing and warriors shouting in the background on the track "Kauja Pie Saules.1236", to random tracks that are all or mostly folk music, such as "Zviegtin' Zviedza Kara Zirgi" and the intro to "Kursi", amongst others. Even instruments to further bring out the folk sound of the band can be found on the album, especially in the track "Kalçjs Kala Dbesîs".

Outside the obvious folk overtones, the band is a pretty stand out folk metal band with some black metal inspirations. While the music itself may not be as good as it could be on some tracks, such as "Kalçjs Kala Dbesîs", it does, however, have moments of pure intensity, like on "Kauja Pie Saules.1236". Sometimes you'll have somebody randomly singing one word in the background, almost as though he were in a church choir, and it almost sounds like it was just done to be done with very little emphasis or interest.

"Kauja Pie Saules" is definitely a land mark album, for the style, as well as the band. While it does contain some moments that will either bore you or have you say "That just doesn't sound right" music-wise, the album as a whole will simply astound you. While sometimes epic, the album doesn't try to make it's self over the top, and is simply perfection.
