Slaughter Lord is a now defunct band based in Australia. Nowadays a lot of extreme acts have popped up there, but this band was one of the pioneers of the thrash death style, not only in that country, but in the whole world. This cult status wasn´t reflected in a great amount of recordings, since they only released a demo titled “Taste of Blood”. The short existence of the band (1985-1987) does nothing but increase the mythic aura, and one wonders what could have happened if they had endured in their musical career. “Thrash ´til death” includes this demo and some other songs taken from rehearsals and some studio sessions; because of that, don´t expect to have a very good sound nor anything similar. All in all we can find here nine songs, the style is maniac thrash metal, with chaotic solos and licks on and on. Some parts remind me a bit of Possessed, but Slaughter Lord are more brutal, ramming and fast. Sarcofago is another name that comes to mind when hearing this band, especially the vocals which are really crazy and aggressive. But the ones that caused the greater impact on these guys were Kreator; Slaughter Lord is like putting the “Endless pain” vynil at 60 rpm, you know what I mean, fast, violent and pure turmoil in some passages... it´s not very clear where the borders between thrash and death metal are, but who cares, I know you have figured out the whole picture. This was a good promising band portrayed with an awful sound. Taking into account this was just a beginning and a lot of work had to be done, Slaughter Lord can be listened without any problem. By the way, At The Gates covered one of their songs.
