REVIEW: Slayer - Reign In Blood American Recordings, 1986
10/10
Slayer - Reign In Blood - cover art I suspect there is not much need to review this album since almost every metal fan in the world already knows of it but I still think it deserves to be mentioned. Slayer is without a doubt one of the most successful metal bands ever and "Reign In Blood" is often referred to as the number one thrash metal album of all time. You can not really do much else than agree with that because thrash metal can hardly be done any better than this, at least not many, if any, bands have managed to do so. The album is unfortunately not very long since it contains only hyperspeed thrash metal done with unbelievable technical precision. These guys are some of the most skilled musicians this world has to offer and the energy and aggression showed on this album offers nothing but aural pleasures of the highest possible quality. Slayer is to thrash metal what the invention of fire was to mankind - the flame and technical skills needed to bring this kind of music forward. There is an uncountable number of bands out there today who have been inspired by Tom Araya and the rest of the guys. The conclusion is simple yet descriptive: this is the ultimate manifestation of perfection itself.
