REVIEW: Slodust - Twisted Ahead Black Mark Production, 2001
4/10
Slodust - Twisted Ahead - cover art I have no clue what to write about this release... It passed me by without any lasting impression really except for being a very weird and chaotic album without any structure. Sometimes sounding like a poor version of Korn, other times a weak Fear Factory this is perhaps not something for the average metal fan. There is a lot of screaming, strange riffs and some clean singing but this doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard before. Perhaps this is a good thing but not to me. The label promo sheets compare the band to both Korn and Slipknot but to me none of these three bands sound any way near each other except for during very short moments. This is a very heavy and dirty hard rock album and this is something I find it very hard to enjoy. The screaming hardcore vocals I could also do without. It's a shame that the label that nurtured Bathory has decided to follow cheap trends and sign a band like Slodust. I bet the people in the band are nice guys but I would appreciate it if they changed their taste in music...
