REVIEW: Snew - Snew You Snew World Order, 2008
8/10
Snew - Snew You - cover art Let us simply begin with their name, Snew. Odd and original and simply catchy. This band takes their name as the cornerstone of their entire self-directed PR takeover. Their campaign is entitled "SnewWorldOrder," their debut CD Snew You - you get where I'm going. So after getting a few points from me for their oddly clever moniker, I began to assess their music.

The meat of the matter is that Snew You is a beeftastic platter of sleazy goodness. No gristle, no fat. Just ass shaking rawk and roll. Ten tenacious tracks of swirling sonic fun where depth and image have been eschewed for the bombastic sluttiness of the groove. These guys devoured every riff AC/DC ever laid down, every roadhouse boogie stomp Bo Diddley spat out and topped it all with Curtis Don Vito's vox which sound like fisticuffs between Bon Scott (AC/DC) and Jesse James Dupree (Jackyl).

I could dissect every track here but as with most offerings in this style of music, they really aren't that far removed from one another. I can forgive that, in fact I'd rather listen to a zillion cds full of this style of good time rock than one EP of that Nickelback drivel that saturates the corporate radio waves.

The bottom line is if you like your hard rock unfettered and fun, fast and furious, and groovy as Hell... then get Snewed.
