REVIEW: Sodom - Sodom Steamhammer Records, 2006
8/10
Sodom - Sodom - cover art Mr. Angelripper and his compadres have patiently been awaiting the green light from their record label to release a new studio album and now it is finally time for the rest of the world to taste the fruits of their eponymous album. Sodom is not just a band, they are an institution, a trademark, call it what you will, for the entire metal scene and one of the true originators of what is today known as thrash metal. Raw, primal energy transformed into aggressive and razor-sharp guitar riffs accompanied by a punky attitude. From the opening "Blood On Your Lips" through the catchy "Buried In The Justice Ground" to the closing "The Enemy Inside", Sodom prove once again that they are no overrated has-beens but a vibrant and dynamic force to be reckoned with even today when the rest of the world has had 25 years to catch up with them. Solid old-school thrash metal directly from the source. Why trade the original for a carbon copy? It is unfortunate that we had to wait five years for the successor to "M-16" but hopefully the next album is just around the corner. Kudos to the band as well for using the highly underrated top domain .info!
